The LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, one of the region’s most significant transportation infrastructure projects, is underway throughout the communities along the nearly ten mile stretch of mainline track.
The duration and intensity of work depends on the project element under construction. The project elements are phased to reduce the amount of disruption in any given community at any given time. Construction is currently focused on communities other than Hicksville. However, to prepare for and execute the “roll-in” of a new three-track bridge over Urban Avenue in New Cassel, there will be no train service between Hicksville and Mineola on July 20-21.
For more specific service pattern changes, please click here to review the MTA LIRR’s Summary of Weekend Service Changes.
While this work in New Cassel won’t necessarily bring 3TC crews to Hicksville, support trains will be needed and area residents may hear the diesel-powered support trains idling.
