Significant progress has been made on the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, one of the region’s most noteworthy transportation projects. While the duration and intensity of work depends on the project element under construction, the 3rd Track Constructors team is phasing elements to reduce the amount of disruption in any given community at any given time.
During the month of February, you will see crews performing the following construction activities in Westbury:

Westbury Station Enhancement Project
- On the north side of the tracks, crews are working on concrete and formwork for the support building
- Precast wall installation is ongoing on the North and South sides of the tracks.
- EJ Electric will be installing conduit on the North and South side of the tracks
- Following successful platform installation, customers will no longer be using the east end of the platform and will instead use the platforms on the west end of the station.
- To access the south platform customers can use the Railroad Ave walkway to the east staircase or use the Post Ave entrance to access the west stairs, ramp, and underpass to the north platform.
- To access the north platform customers can use the east staircase, the mid platform staircase, or west end ramp.
- The pedestrian underpass has now been reopened, but the station building remains closed.
- Customers may use the shelter sheds located on the north and south side of the platforms during this time.
- Union Avenue is currently restricted to westbound traffic only for the duration of construction on the pedestrian plaza at the corner of Post Avenue and Union Avenue.
- There will be no parking between Post Avenue and Linden Avenue throughout this phase of construction.

- Pedestrians needing to cross to the opposite side of the tracks can now use the newly rebuilt underpass.

- The parking lot on the south side of the tracks along Railroad Ave is currently closed while crews work on the south side of the station
- Westbury Station Building is under construction and will be closed until Q3 of 2022.
LIRR Work Along the Railroad Right-of-Way
- In addition to 3TC’s activities, you may see or hear LIRR forces working along the railroad right-of-way
- To avoid LIRR service interruptions during peak commuting hours, LIRR work along the railroad right-of-way may take place overnight and on weekends

- Weekend of 2/12: from New Hyde Park to Westbury, including Mineola
