Beginning on Monday, December 7th, utility relocation will begin at Westbury Station. As a result, the eastbound lane on Union Avenue, between Post Avenue and Linden Avenue, will close for approximately six weeks excluding December 24 through December 26, as well as January 1 through January 3.
Vehicular traffic looking to travel eastbound will be redirected to Railroad Avenue and Maple Avenue during this time. Commuter access to the north side of Westbury Station will remain accessible throughout construction.
As part of the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, the station will undergo improvements that were developed in consultation with the local community. The enhancements will include: platform replacement to accommodate a new third track; platform canopies; new platform furnishings and accoutrements including benches, shelters and signage; CCTV security cameras to improve safety; an extension of the Westbury Station pedestrian tunnel; ADA-compliant mobility improvements including elevators, ramps and overpasses; Wi-Fi; USB charging stations; digital information displays; and a low-maintenance pedestrian plaza near Post Avenue. The interior and exterior of the station building will be renovated and new bike racks and artwork will also be installed.
