Construction of the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville continues to advance, with safety the top priority. As part of this Project, MTA Construction & Development and LIRR developed a series of environmental and community commitments to minimize construction impacts to residents, businesses, and commuters. The quarterly Community Scorecard Program was created to incentivize 3rd Track Constructors (3TC), the Project’s Design-Builder, to adhere to these commitments.
To comply with guidance pertaining to COVID-19, this quarter’s Community Scorecard was made available online and by phone. The scorecard evaluated 3TC’s performance from July 1 through September 30, 2020. A total of 130 stakeholders participated in the program. Input was also received from the project team’s environmental and construction inspectors.
3TC earned a final average score of 77 out of a possible 100. Respondents in New Cassel awarded 3TC with the highest scores, while Garden City Park respondents gave the lowest. 3TC received the highest marks on awareness of project outreach options, ability to maintain local business access and inquiry response time. 3TC will continue to improve on: construction noise and vibration levels, street cleanliness, and communication of traffic detours.
