Beginning on Monday, September 28th, construction will begin on the Stonehinge Lane Roundabout at Carle Place Station, which was developed in close coordination with the community to facilitate safer and easier passenger drop-offs and pick-ups.
Portions of Stonehinge Lane will be closed for approximately three months during construction, restricting parking along the east and west sides of the roadway and prohibiting both vehicular and pedestrian traffic into the restricted area during this time.
The below map provides further detail, outlining access to local businesses along Stonehinge Lane. Commuters will be redirected to the Cherry Lane entrance of Carle Place Station.
The Carle Place Station Enhancement Project is one of many components of the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville. Carle Place Station will reopen in its permanent condition by Winter 2021.
Station enhancements include platform removal and replacement to accommodate a new third track; platform canopies; new platform furnishings and accouterments including benches, shelters and signage; as well as CCTV security cameras to improve safety. The overpass has been replaced and includes ADA-accessible elevators. Other enhancements include ADA-compliant mobility improvements such as ramps; free public Wi-Fi; USB charging stations and digital information displays; new bike racks and artwork.
