For Westbury residents and commuters, some short-term utility work and road closures next week will lead to significant progress on the Westbury North Parking Structure – an important piece of the LIRR Expansion Project.
In order to continue the final elements of construction, on Monday, September 21, crews will begin installing utilities along Scally Place for the Westbury North Parking Structure. As a result, Scally Place, between Post Avenue and Linden Avenue will close to thru traffic for approximately three days, restricting parking along the roadway and prohibiting non-local vehicular traffic into the area during this time.
Closing the road to traffic allows our crews to perform this work more quickly, expediting the reopening of Scally Place and ultimately the opening of the completed parking structure.
The 683-space structure, which is being built using prefabricated construction techniques that put the project ahead of its original schedule, will retain 106 surface parking spaces and will add a net increase of 481 parking spaces to the Village of Westbury. The new four-level parking structure is expected to be completed at the end of 2020.
3TC is appreciative of the community, including local leaders, for their support, patience, and understanding throughout the project. These short-term impacts are the only way to achieve the many long-term benefits that will serve the area for generations. We are continually re-evaluating our construction techniques and inspecting our equipment to minimize adverse effects to the surrounding community.
