Over two consecutive weekends in September, steel erection for the additional track bay on the Meadowbrook Parkway Bridge in Carle Place will occur overnight from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The new bridge is being modified to improve infrastructure and support the new third track on the LIRR Main Line, and while this weekend work is underway the parkway will have nightly closures in a single direction.
Beginning Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 p.m. the southbound Meadowbrook Parkway from the Northern State Parkway entrance ramp will close until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20th. Following the southbound closure, the northbound Meadowbrook Parkway will close at exit M1 at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20th until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21st. Please see the detour map below for alternate traffic routes.
The upcoming work is among the final construction elements as the Meadowbrook Parkway Bridge nears completion, which is expected this fall. The completed bridge will mark the sixth of seven bridges to be modified or replaced along the LIRR Main Line, leaving only the Tanners Pond Road/Denton Avenue bridge in Garden City to be replaced.
