Over the weekend, crews from 3TC and MTA Construction & Development installed a newly constructed bridge as part of the Glen Cove Road Bridge Replacement Project in Carle Place. Thanks to the project team for their successful efforts, making this the 4th new bridge to be replaced as part of the LIRR Expansion Project. Another weekend, another LIRR Expansion Project milestone! This time, we’re upgrading the Glen Cove Rd Bridge on the
LIRR Main Line.
All Aboard: Train 1740 from Penn Station to Huntington was the final E/B LIRR over the old Glen Cove Bridge.
Crews from LIRR and 3TC worked overnight to remove 3rd rail and track panels and prep the roadway underneath for the Glen Cove Bridge roll-out.
The old Glen Cove Road bridge is removed using the state of the art box-jacking method.
The new bridge is pushed into place.
Precast concrete backwall units were installed as one of the last preparatory measures before the bridge push.
