As progress continues on the LIRR Expansion Project, the first phase of the Meadowbrook Parkway Bridge modification in Carle Place is scheduled to begin. On Monday, May 4th crews will begin to shift traffic travel along Meadowbrook Parkway to accommodate for the removal of the bridge’s stone facing and demolition of the existing wingwalls. Three lanes of traffic will be maintained throughout this activity on both the northbound and southbound sides of the parkway. Please exercise caution while adjusting to the new roadway alignment and adhere to the speed limitations and signage.
The Meadowbrook Parkway Bridge is one of seven bridges to be modified or replaced along the LIRR Main Line. In service since 1956, the bridge is being widened to accommodate a third track on the Main Line which will reduce road and train congestion, improve safety, and provide a more reliable rail network.
