Significant progress is being made on the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville – just last month, the team successfully completed the roll-in of Cherry Lane Bridge. If you haven’t seen the time-lapse video of the work, take 32 seconds right now and watch – or take a look at the photographs from the weekend – it is truly amazing what is possible.
In the month ahead, there will be just as spectacular work coming. In addition to the 3TC team continuing to progress toward the roll-in of the Urban Avenue bridge, which will enable the elimination of the grade crossing in New Cassel, there is ongoing foundation work for the new Harrison Avenue Parking Structure in Mineola; continued work on the South Tyson Avenue Bridge Project in Floral Park; sound and retaining walls being installed along the right-of-way in areas along the project route; preparatory work on the Nassau Boulevard Bridge Replacement Project in Garden City; and continued progress made on the Westbury North Parking Structure in Westbury; among many other activities.
All of this work further highlights how the LIRR Expansion Project is truly one of the region’s most significant transportation infrastructure projects.
