New concrete and steel columns have been constructed to support the structure that will accommodate the South Tyson Avenue Bridge modification project. The track, adjacent to the Hempstead branch, will be diverted to the Mainline via a switch and will continue east for nearly 10 miles to Hicksville. Construction of a new bridge for the track will begin this summer and is scheduled to be completed in the fall.
3rd Track Constructors (3TC) is working hard to make a third track from Floral Park to Hicksville a reality. The completed project will reduce train congestion and delays and enable true bi-directional service during peak hours with a more reliable rail network. This transformative work includes several related projects, including the construction of parking garages, retaining walls, improvements to rail bridges and the removal of seven street-level grade crossings along the Main Line.
